Jennifer Tilly: Poker Champion
[Dispatches from the Culture Wars] Laak is kind of an eccentric character and he likes to wear a hooded sweatshirt when he plays poker. And sometimes when someone is trying to get a read on him, he'll pull the hood over his head and tighten the drawstrings up so you can see his face, so it looks kinda like the famous sketch of the unibomber.

OddJack City
[Bills Blog] At times it can be amusing but does the world really need a smarmy take on gaming? Perhaps Nick Denton’s other blogs like Gawker play to a different crowd of people who like to belittle the non-accomplishments of Manhattan’s elite but the entire tone seems out of place in the world of poker.

The Futility of Affiliate Programs for Poker Bloggers
[Bills Blog] I’ve had more than a few conversations about affiliate programs with my fellow bloggers and I’m becoming more and more convinced that any attempt to generate significant income via these programs is an exercise in futility. Nanolimit vs Microlimit Poker Online
[Poker Chip's Poker Blog] A lot of people recommend a bigger bankroll for a higher limit game, like 300BB, but the author of the post at Two plus Two suggested that it's okay to take a shot at a higher level game with 150BB if you're willing to move down if you have some bad luck. (BB stands for "big bets", by the way.) The author also recommends playing at Pokerstars if you're on a nanolimit budget.

All Aboard That's Going Ashore
[PARANNOYING.COM - Tastes like burning.] We didn't get out there (it's 14 miles out in International waters, don't ya know?) until like 10:30 at night. We went up to the poker deck and while I was playing Adam found out that all the shuttles back to land were full until 8:00 AM, which is ridiculous. He luckily got us some passes on the 4:00 AM shuttle when someone was returning them to exchange for another shuttle. Call me crazy, but if I was running a business like that I'd try not to strand my customers so they will come back more often.

Is Poker just harmless fun?
[Roemerman on Record] Poker on TV is portrayed as a game of skill and strategy rather than its real main determinant: chance. The message conveyed is that with enough practice one will learn how to win, just as an aggressive investor intuitively knows how to play the stock market.Several of these shows make Poker look like more of a harmless game, than one of chance. Impressionable youth become convinced that that there is nothing wrong with gambling; these shows dont suggest that there are any negative consequence attached to gambling.

Two programs, one bonus down, and another started.
[Life, Poker, and Video Games] So I finished the bonus up on Party Poker. It went pretty quick. I then withdrew the money so I could take advantage of what I thought was a great bonus on Pokerstars. You only needed 5 FPP(frequent player points) per $1 of bonus and they were offering 20% up to $120 with no expiration date. Another plus was that you could work it off by playing tournaments. You get 5 fpp for every $1 in tournament service fees. What I didnt notice was what it takes to get a FPP in a normal ring game. Basicly the pot has to be huge. On any NL/PL table the pot has to exceed $20 to count toward a FPP. I dont know how soon Ill be finishing this bonus. I finished the 2 programs for school after another all nighter. How I love those. I really enjoyed the operating systems program though. We had to write a virtual file system. Once I got a good grasp on it, it was fun. My compilers program was much easier than the previous installement for that course. I had finished most of it saturday. I just...
