The Luck Conundrum

 [High on Poker] But to suggest that it's 80% luck, that really doesn't explain how some people (say, Doyle, Phil Ivey, Dan Harrington making three WSOP final tables, Stu Ungar winning three WSOP main events, etc.) consistently perform better than others. I would say that a truly skilled poker player can win most of the time without getting any great cards over a three or four hour period.

M*A*S*H Was the TV Best Show Ever

 [Chris Abraham - Because the Medium is the Message] Inspired by the 1970 20th Century-Fox film M*A*S*H (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) and based on the book of the same name, M*A*S*H was an American television series about a team of medical professionals and support staff stationed at the 4077th MASH in Korea during the Korean War. The series originally aired on CBS from September 17, 1972 to February 28, 1983, but can still be seen in syndication.

Xbox 360 camera plus poker equals immersion

[Joystiq] After the Microsoft keynote we managed to spend some time with one of the games supporting the 360's camera peripheral, World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions. In this game, the camera is used to take a frontal and sideways shot of the player's head, which is then turned into a 3D representation of the player.

Online Poker Weekend Wrap Up: Big Money on the Table

 [Poker News | Online Poker news] The weekend online poker tournaments kicked off on Saturday with the Paradise Poker $500,000 guaranteed with re-buys and add-ons. There were 1459 entries at $200 each, and the prize pool with re-buys and add-ons came to just short of 450K so there was about a 10% overlay for participants.

A WSOP resolution

[The Shark Tank] I’ve decided I’m going to absolutely play in the July 1st $2,000 NL Event.  It starts at noon on Saturday and I should be on the final table on Monday.  I’m looking at my schedule to see if I can get out early and play the limit event on Thursday or not.  The limit event could overlap with the NL event, if I make the final table, but that is a good kind of problem to have.  If you haven’t seen it, the full WSOP schedule is on-line.
