Poker Library > 3rd Place?!

Matt's Place[Matt's Place] I love it when you stumble on goodies on the Internet. I'm not a big gambler, but I have recently picked up a very nasty poker bug. Since I've started playing, I've had a hard time finding places to play that are competitive with play money. Most online poker rooms only offer ring games for free (play money) and the level of play is quite poor on those tables.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[Taopoker.blogspot.com] Tao of Poker: A Poker Blog: The buy in was $115 and the winner was awarded a $1,060 Coupon for an Act Three Tournament. If you win the Act Three Tournament you get a $10,000 seat at the World Poker Finals in November, which will be televised on the World Poker Tour coverage on the Travel Channel. Basically I needed to win an Act Two and then an Act Three... in order to get a shot at over $1 Million purse and the chance to play with the big boys like Howard Lederer (last year's winner with over $320,000), Phil Ivey, Layne Flack, and Phil Hellmuth.

[Taopoker.blogspot.com] Tao of Poker: A Poker Blog: Here's a bit: "Poker novices usually don't realize that limit poker, played as a cash game with small blinds at a full table, requires a store of patience to wait for good hands, while shorthanded tournament poker - where the blinds get astronomical and too much patience is a terminal disease - requires a lot more risk-taking. It's at the end of the spectrum where the selection-aggression quotient leans heavily toward aggressive play. On TV, any hand with an ace and any pair in hand is raised most of the time.

He arrived at the final table tied for third in chips, but was never able to gain enough momentum to be a force. On his biggest hand of the night Roter was dealt 10-10 and enjoyed a slight pre-flop lead against Dan Pugliese, holding two overcards...A-J.
