Poker Library > Better skill next time

http://www.uglychart.com [Ugly Chart] Whenever I play poker there is always a lot of talk about luck. Usually it is someone blaming poor luck for their own losing mistakes. Sure, there will be times when you can't get any cards.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

http://www.martiegras.com/weblog [MartieGras] No winners here: Patrick got about half way through the tournament, with 2,700 players this game was more of a lottery and luck than skill. He said that they turned away 3000 players and the poker tables sat 11 players instead of 10!  He did managed to get a little more than half way through before being knocked out.

http://nickleanddimes.blogspot.com [Nickleanddimes] WPBT Aladdin: Day Three: But let me state that the tournament WAS professionally ran, the tournament staff was courtious, the venue was awesome, and the people there made it memoriable. The poker room is one of better places to play in Vegas, so if you're in town and want to try your hand at $3/$6 limit or $1/$2 and $2/$5 no limit hold em', definitely check on the Aladdin. I just wish we could have played poker instead of Let It Ride.

Blog.pokerwords.comhttp://blog.pokerwords.com [Blog.pokerwords.com] Poker Words - A Poker Blog: Skill or Chance?: This changes the game from declaring a winner based on a random set of cards, to the declaring the winner to be the person who can consistently and correctly evaluates their situation to maximize their profit. I think that in that context, poker would be considered a much more skillful game than based only on chance. That's not to say that luck isn't involved, but those with enough skill will eventually overcome any luck that may be involved.

[Upforanything.net] Up For Poker Blog: Also, I've noticed our blogger representation in WSOP Event #2 is bigger than I thought. We'll have nine representatives out of the 2000-ish entrants (likely the same number as some of the smaller online sites...hell, I bet we have more reps that Choice Poker). Our luck, we'll all get seated at the same table with Sam Grizzle.

Pokerati.comhttp://www.pokerati.com [Pokerati.com] Pokerati.com ...: The girl to my left (an Asian chick who perhaps might read Pokerati, based on her regular declarations of "Awr Reen!") hit quads three times in a five-hour session. (I only lost one of those hands.) And then there was the young, cool construction-worker guy who called my all-in when I had top-pair, ace-kicker, nut-flush draw.

http://luckyblind.blogspot.com [Luckyblind.blogspot.com] Luckyblind's Poker Blog: Skill Vs Luck: My reasoning is a bit off, I was writing it as I thought of it which is not such a good practice ! I still believe in the long run skill has a big part to play and although I have not illustrated it well, these players cannot keep winning without something more than luck. Also it is a mindset as well, I couldn't play if I didn't feel I had some kind of edge, I would rather lump a €100 on the lottery every week!
