betfirms.com[betfirms.com] If you’ve been betting hard the whole the way, your opponents may not put you on a draw, and may fold to your bet on the come, or to your bluff bet on the river, allowing you to steal a large pot. For this reason, and since you presumably cannot win in a showdown without making your hand, think twice about taking a free card on the turn, if you think a bet there or on the river might buy you the pot.

Poker Newspaper[Poker Newspaper] Playing Position in Poker: It follows that when you are in early position (first to act pre-flop or among the first few) it can be very difficult to take the lead in a hand because there are so many players left to act after you. Every player who acts after you is a possible re-raise, so when you are playing from early position you want to be really careful with marginal hands like A-8, A-9, K-J because you are one re-raise away from a sticky situation.

[Chuck's Poker Blog] Back in the saddle, but for how long: A couple more folded but I still got callers when I beet out when a jack hit on the turn, and all but one folded when a blank hit on the river. The pot was in the $250 range, very nice for a $6/$12 game.

Shermhoy's Webloghttp://shermhoy.wordpress.com/2008/01/23/two-nights-in-a-row/ [Shermhoy's Weblog] Two nights in a row: I messed up posting the hand history so will just have to write out the hand.  I was dealt 10 8 and was in the bb pre and he just called $3 and i checked.  The flop came out 7 9 j.  I checked and he bet 12.  I immeadiatly decided to make it 36 as I knew that he could have a big hand here…he just calls.  The turn is a Q and i bet out 70 almost the size of the pot figuring he might have two pair.  He calls.  The river was an Ace and i bet out 150 he thinks for a while and calls with KK.  He played this hand very poorly as by not raising KK pre he has no range of hands i could be on and just a pair isn’t any good against two random cards where I was betting pot three streets in a row.

Gambling Blog[Gambling Blog] Q&A #99: Taking A Free Card On The Turn, Or Giving It?: Given the preflop 4-bet and the flop action, I think chances are the SB has a pocket pair, so he’s probably staying with you to the river. If only he calls, and if he has a pocket pair, then you are taking somewhat the worst of it on the turn if you bet, because he probably won’t fold to any river card.

[Chuck's Poker Blog] I love drunks at the table, but”¦: I hesitated, but not quite long enough for me to listen to that little voice, and my bet was met with a check-raise. I was pretty sure, even though I’d not been at the table that long, that he had made the straight, but the pot odds left me with calling, considering that he might have also been slowplaying or have made two pair.

btimm's Poker Bloghttp://btimmpoker.wordpress.com/2008/01/16/day-91-50nl-session-2/ [btimm's Poker Blog] Day 91 - $50NL Session 2: I playeed a little bit more tonight after the movie, because I just felt so good about my earlier session.  I did not get as many oppurtunites in general to 3-bet, plus I had a fair share of pocket pairs, so my PFR is a little lower, but that is okay.  Played well again.  Had a small +EV situation hold up, as my flopped broadway stood up against a set of queens (villain flatted my raise OOP preflop, noted sir!).  I ran at over 21 PTBB/100, but actually thought I ran kinda cold still.  I had 6 big pots basically.  Nothing really too in depth to describe, but I will put them in here anyways.  Since they are very straightforward and no interesting spots popped up in this really short session, I will throw these hands in here for fun.  Kinda crazy that I ran at such a high winrate, yet felt like I got the short end of the stick today.  Hey, I will take it, it was fun!  I was not even getting annoyed by it for some unknown reason, lol.  More progress!!  btimm-doooooozer!!!

[Chuck's Poker Blog] Rolling, rolling, rolling”¦: As time went on, I observed him to be a table bully, raising and reraising with impunity, and I picked off a nice pot when I had a big hand and he tried to play back with, presumably, nothing or very little. His smallish buy-in (less than $200, I think) was quickly whittled away.
