[Poker Newspaper] If you have two spades in your hand, and there are two spades on the board then the odds of making a flush will be about 2:1. What his means to you, is that you will hit your flush one out of every 3 times that you play for a flush in this situation (which is usually quite often).

[Poker Chip Forums-chiptalk.net] Do I need to be spanked for this play?: I knew if I called whatabout's raise, I would be pot committed and see the hand to the river so I compared the 4:1 pot odds to my 2:1 hand odds and came to the conclusion that the call would be "correct". Subsequently, with one other player behind me, I wanted to chase him out of the hand so I threw in my over the top raise to scare Darvus out though in hindsight with me chasing an Ace high flush (which most likely would have been the nuts - well yes there could have been a boat with the 4 pairing on the river, but i didn't know this at the time of my decision), it would have made sense to keep darvus in the hand to milk him out of more money on the turn or river if i hit my flush.
[Casio Watches Shopping Center] Counting and Using Outs in Holdem: If a King, or an Ace comes on the flop, someone bets, and you believe they have the higher pair, the only way you can win is by hitting 1 of the 2 remaining Queens. You have 2 outs, 2 cards that will help, and 45 that will not, for 45:2, or 22.5:1 against getting the third Queen on the next card.
[Poker Bonus Time] Poker Jargon: Thus, you may call a bet at the flop, but have implied odds of making bigger bets on later rounds if you hit your draw. So, if you have Ad Kd and the flop comes Qc 7d 6d, your implied odds are what you have to call at the flop compared to how large the pot will be at the end of the hand.

[VAGUE SPACE] What Happens in Atlantic City: I mean sure, they have video cameras probably taping the office procedures, and my name and address was on the packages I was mailing, but the odds that these unhurried dimwits could possibly finger me remain slim, so I'm not that worried. [Boogster's Blog] Couple of hands in poker”¦: I limp in with J-T offsuit in middle position. There’s probably 4 or 5 callers. The flop comes T-9-9, two clubs. I lead out for $20. Everybody folds to the button, who raises it up to $70. I’ve played with this dude before…a few years back and I remember him being very aggressive and he loved to test people. He was a pretty good player though, so I knew that he wouldn’t do anything too stupid. Anyways, as soon as he raised, I was pretty sure that he didn’t have a 9. Two reasons: 1) he made a pretty big raise, 2) he was in position and knew that he could push me off of a Ten. Based on my read, I reraised him another $100. He had $280 left behind him and I had him covered. If he would’ve pushed all in there, I probably would’ve folded, but the thing is that he didn’t know whether I had the 9 or not, so he couldn’t push. He decided to “just call”. The turn brought a non-club 8 giving me an open ended straight draw on top of my top pair. I checked and he pushed for $180. It took me a few minutes, but I made the call with only top pair, jack kicker. The river brought a blank and I took down the pot. He mucked. He acted like he was on a flush draw, but he didn’t show, so I’m not sure what he had. It was a tough call for me though. I would usually fold to a raise after the flop with such a weak hand as J-T, but I trusted my read.
