Poker Terminologies
[Texas Holdem Poker] Kicker - When you are able to make a pair, two pair, or a set with a card in your hand, you other card becomes your kicker, or high card to go with your hand. In the event that two players make the same hand, such as a pair of aces, then the player with the best kicker wins the hand.

[Funny Stuff is all around] If you have one pair and you figure him for two pair or better, you are usually drawing to catch one of five cards that will allow you to make three of a kind of pair your kicker. The size of the pot doesn’t usually support this kind of draw and in these kinds of situations you’re better off releasing your hand, even if it is top pair with a good kicker.

Check raising the flop for fun and profit, Part Two
[The Shark Tank] If he holds two overcards and the flush draw, he is actually the money favorite there. However, if you arent willing to cap hands like top pair, you are giving away a lot of information when you cap two pair or better.

Skills, Mookie and Smooth Calling with Draws on the Flop
[Hammer Player's Poker Blog] So first and foremost, given the bias towards high-card and Ace-having starting hands, the opponent in this hand likely had some kind of top pair hand as opposed to hidden two pairs or something like that. The likelihood of one's opponent having precisely one pair is one factor that I think weighs in favor of just making the smooth call in this spot.

Stud Poker Strategy: Fifth Street Decisions
[Gambling Blog] Similarly, a pair of sixes is unlikely because of all of the high cards that remained after him. It’s possible he would have raised with a pair of sixes and an ace kicker, but with the two aces you know are gone, that seems dubious.

[KidPoker] He called my raise with K-9 off from the small blind, flopped middle pair, and then shoved for another 15k. I had top pair and a flush draw, the dreaded Ac 4h on a three heart board, and he beat that handily despite me turning two pair.
