Rakeback Poker Forumhttp://www.rakeback.com/poker-forum/general-poker-topics/back-basics-pot-odds-3627/ [Rakeback Poker Forum] Back to the Basics.....Pot Odds: Basic definition: Pot Odds would be the the ratio between the pot amount in comparison to the bet you are facing. Example: lets say the pot is $200 and your opponent bets $20, your pot odds would be 11 to 1, since you need to call $20 to stay in the pot.

btimm's Poker Bloghttp://btimmpoker.wordpress.com/2008/05/14/much-to-learn/ [btimm's Poker Blog] Much to Learn!: This is where it got interesting.  I noticed a little while after this hand, his aggression started going way up.  He just was playing back at me on every hand.  He would min 3bet my raises probably 70% of the time.  If I cbet, he called 100% of the time.  In 6max, this is super easy to counter, you just stay patient, and when you get a hand, you bet for value.  In HU, this seems much different.  I wasn’t sure how to react to this.  One such example is when he called my 3bet OOP with AQs, called a rag flop cbet, and called a double barrel on a turn king.  He also ran stupid hot against me and there didn’t seem to be much I could do.  I did not want to leave the table, because he clearly was a spew monkey and wanted to give me his chips if he calling two barrels in a 3bet pot with A high.  Generally, I notice when people get frustrated with me, they are gettign short and I have absolutely no problem getting it in with pps and hands like AJ for 40 BBs or less, if I can tell they are just getting annoyed.  Here though, I built some of the losses back up and we were about 140 BBs deep, so I didn’t know the proper play.  This is okay though, this just means I need to study more and learn more about the game.  The other thing that was wierd about this villain was that I was taking notes on him, but after a while I saw the notes were not being quite as useful.  He would bet pot with strong hands or air.  He would bet 1/2 pot with strong hands or air.  This is not a typo.  I could not get a betting size read on him.  The only thing I noticed that he did 3 times (he liked to show his good hands, fool) is that when he was really strong, he would tank for half the allotted time and bet pot.  That read that I developed was consistent throughout the game.

These hands are best because they tend to have the most equity when called by a range of big aces and big pairs.

Spa[Spa] spa in texas: Poker is a card game that requires that players vie for a central pot full of chips that may or may not represent money. The pot is awarded to the player with the best combination of cards or to the player who makes an uncalled bet.

The Poker Lab Rat[The Poker Lab Rat] Poker Pro: Make that Bet Size Work for You!: There is $675 in the pot, and normally you might bet between $550 and $650, which is a good bet size right now. If your opponent re-raises to $1,500, instead of your normal re-raise to $4,500, you’d push all your chips into the pot (as $4,500 is almost half of your chips anyway).

Free Online Poker[Free Online Poker] Bets That Define Your Hand and Bets That Leave Your Hand Undefined: If you were to lead out here with a pot-sized bet, you would probably be doing so to define your hand. Essentially, what you are saying is, “I have a queen, so you need to have a good hand to stay in this pot.” If someone raises your bet, you can have a good idea that they have a powerful hand, one that can beat a queen with a bad kicker or one that is drawing to such a hand.

btimm's Poker Bloghttp://btimmpoker.wordpress.com/2008/05/05/a-few-winning-pots/ [btimm's Poker Blog] A Few Winning Pots: My flop thoughts reflect the same thing I said preflop.  I raise small, because I figure villain likes his hand.  I give him the chance to shove over the top if he desires, but also, I raise small, because it will be almost impossible for villain to fold the turn now.  He complies by shoving and I get it in with the better hand.  The key thoughts in this hand are bet sizing and the reasons for the bet sizing.  Note that I would never take this line against a good regular.  Sometimes, you need to put yourself in your opponents shoes and think like a donk.  I think a bigger raise preflop or on the flop could possibly force a fold in this hand.
