Poker Library > Poker ruled a “game of chance” by N.C. judge!

[Tales From The Felt] Apparently, this judge has it in his mind that since you can’t alter the identity of the card next off the deck by using statistics or skill, poker is entirely a game of chance. I guess that makes Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, David Sklansky and the like the luckiest people on the planet!

Today was the Salute to Helldorado Days' parade in downtown Las Vegas. I tried to go to the Plaza earlier today and found the area jammed with locals and tourist joining in the gala celebration. Closed streets, packed Fremont Experience and the world's largest birthday cake construction, 130,720 pounds of frosted cake, complete with enough total cholesterol to plug up the Colorado River.

[Thepokerchronicles.com] The Poker Chronicles: I get a few new emails every week from people saying they just found my blog and that they like it. [Taopoker.blogspot.com] Tao of Poker: A Poker Blog: . It is assumed that the reader is familiar with some poker tournament experience and knows how to play no limit ring games. If you are a beginner player, you should read other books first. If you are serious about improving your tournament play, this book is for you. Skalansky explains "The Gap Concept," which is folding raiseable hands to a raise at a tight table and when to use it accordingly, especially in tournaments. He also discusses adjusting your style of play at different stages in the tournament and the differences between small stack play versus large stack play. He even has a section on making deals if you find yourself at the final table. Skalansky includes a section on hand quizzes with questions and answers by Mason Malmuth. Without a doubt, this is one of the best written books on tournament poker and will be a valuable addition to any poker library.
