Poker Strategy Pot Odds

[Highroller-Rakeback.com] Well, Pot Odds is the ratio of what is already in the pot to the amount you would have to bet to stay in the hand. So, if there are $36 in the pot, and you would need to bet $6 to stay in the hand, the pot odds are 36 to 6, or 6 to 1.

Basic Poker Tactics

Stone Cold Bloghttp://stonecoldbluff.wordpress.com/2008/05/28/basic-poker-tactics/ [Stone Cold Blog] In nearly every situation you should either raise the pot if your cards are good, or fold them if they are pants. Raising will do three things: Show aggression, enable you to possibly win the pot uncontested, give you information about your opponents hand.

Resisting The Raising Reflex In No-Limit Hold’em

Noted Poker Authorityhttp://www.notedpokerauthority.com/no-limit-hold-em/resisting-the-raising-reflex-in-no-limit-holdem.html [Noted Poker Authority] But another important goal is to protect your hand - or really, to protect the pot. Since the pot is generally large (maybe eight or ten bets) compared to the size of a raise (one bet), it’s often worth it to throw in an extra raise in an unclear situation to try to fold out your opponents and consolidate your winning chances.

Back to the Basics.....Pot Odds

Rakeback Poker Forumhttp://www.rakeback.com/poker-forum/general-poker-topics/back-basics-pot-odds-3627/ [Rakeback Poker Forum] Basic definition: Pot Odds would be the the ratio between the pot amount in comparison to the bet you are facing. Example: lets say the pot is $200 and your opponent bets $20, your pot odds would be 11 to 1, since you need to call $20 to stay in the pot.

Pot odds + MTT situation

Runner-Runnerhttp://anguila-eel.blogspot.com/2008/03/pot-odds-mtt-situation.html [Runner-Runner] I did actually fold on the reasoning that I can play a very good short stack game, but was left wondering if I am overestimating my abilities and should just call in that kind of situation when the pot odds dictate a call way behind is still correct. Any thoughts?

Poker Pot Odds- Value of Poker Hands

pokerecheck.comhttp://pokerecheck.com/2008/04/02/poker-pot-odds-value-of-poker-hands/ [pokerecheck.com] Playing pot odds on a big pot just to get an 8 high flush is probably not a good idea. This is especially true with more players at the table, because the likelihood someone else will be drawing for a much higher flush is greater.

Drawing to Outs Post-Flop

betfirms.com[betfirms.com] If you’ve been betting hard the whole the way, your opponents may not put you on a draw, and may fold to your bet on the come, or to your bluff bet on the river, allowing you to steal a large pot. For this reason, and since you presumably cannot win in a showdown without making your hand, think twice about taking a free card on the turn, if you think a bet there or on the river might buy you the pot.

Absolute? Absolutely!

http://highonpoker.blogspot.com [High on Poker] On top of that, I once learned from reading Grubby that when a player pushes post-flop with a relatively small pot, he's bluffing more often than not. If Loosey had AA, he'd try to bet small and build the pot to his benefit.

Two programs, one bonus down, and another started.

[Life, Poker, and Video Games] So I finished the bonus up on Party Poker. It went pretty quick. I then withdrew the money so I could take advantage of what I thought was a great bonus on Pokerstars. You only needed 5 FPP(frequent player points) per $1 of bonus and they were offering 20% up to $120 with no expiration date. Another plus was that you could work it off by playing tournaments. You get 5 fpp for every $1 in tournament service fees. What I didn’t notice was what it takes to get a FPP in a normal ring game. Basicly the pot has to be huge. On any NL/PL table the pot has to exceed $20 to count toward a FPP. I don’t know how soon I’ll be finishing this bonus. I finished the 2 programs for school after another all nighter. How I love those. I really enjoyed the operating system’s program though. We had to write a virtual file system. Once I got a good grasp on it, it was fun. My compilers program was much easier than the previous installement for that course. I had finished most of it saturday. I just...
